22 weeks

This week was kind of a sad one. Taylor bought his pickup truck in 2006 and worked his butt off to pay it off. He spent so much time and money making little changes and upgrades and detailing it. It's his first baby, before Cora and before Baby S, even before ME! But it only has 2 seats in it and while it was incredibly handy to have around to haul stuff and move things it wasn't practical anymore with a baby on the way. We decided a few months ago to sell the truck and buy something that has 4 seats for the baby to be able to fit in it so we each have a car safe for him in case there is an emergency or something and we needed to take him somewhere but didn't have a car that would safely hold him. We also felt that we could get some decent money for it and use that to buy a less expensive car for now and pay off the last bit of our credit card and get started on Christmas shopping and baby items we need. It's just a smart (but sad) move. We both are sad to see the truck go but we know it's a necessity for our family for now until we can get Taylor a better truck (with 4 seats) down the road. Poor Taylor.

We found an older explorer that runs great and has a TON of space for Taylor to be able to haul stuff if he wants. But it obviously has 4 doors and 4 seats and that is what was necessary. We got extra money left over to use too so we made a smart decision and someday we will get Taylor another big pickup truck with 4 SEATS this time! Sorry babe! I love you for being such a good husband and caring daddy already.

We also started painting the nursery. We would have finished at least the first coat but I bought a drop cloth that only covered half the floor and I am NOT ruining my brand new carpet with Navy blue paint that will never come out, so we only did the half that was protected by a drop cloth until I could buy another one. I think we will finish it this weekend. We listened to Christmas music while we painted and drank apple cider, twas festive indeed.

Before

Poor Cora got trapped in the bathroom to sit by us without getting into the wet paint.

Nothing is better than the holidays, except......getting ready for a baby during the holidays. That reminds me, I need to get a winter coat of some sort to fit this bump. I got a lot of cold weather ahead of me and my only fleece that still zips over my belly isn't cutting it....FAT GIRL IN A LITTLE COAT!!! jk

My mom and I also went to get the rest of munchkin's fabrics for his room and blanket now that we are sure Taylor approves of the swatches I brought home. We now officially have fabric and are ready to start making:
  • The valence over his window.
  • Dust ruffle.
  • Matching bedding quilt/comforter/blanket whatever.
  • Dino blanket (as seen in this post).
  • Puppy Blanket (also in this post ^^).
  • Pillow for his big comfy chair.
  • A few burp rags.
I also found some drawer pulls that I am obsessed with (they are car door handles!!) at hob-lob for 1/2 off. And I used a ton of coupons at JoAnn Fabric and my total was $44.00 and the amount I saved in coupons was $49.00. I was a happy happy girl! (I even got Cora a few yards of paw print fleece to put in the bottom of her kennel as a blanket for Christmas).

Chalkboard Time!
My bump photographer got home right as I was heading to work so I appologize for being in scrubs (which I officially decided after this picture that this top is officially too short and will retire until after I have the baby)

How far along? 22 weeks, baby is the size of a papaya. My app says he is about 11 inches long and 16 oz. But I think he is a little bigger because when my app said he should have been 10 oz at my 20 week sono he really weighed 13oz. We will see. I have started taking guesses on when he will come and how much he will weigh and his length. Of course Taylor guessed 10 pounds. JERK lol
Total weight gain: I lost a few this week so back to a total of -10 now. I just go back and forth.
Maternity clothes? Of course.
Sleep: I bought my maternity pillow but I only tried it out and took it back. I don't know f it was the shape or the firmness of the pillow or what the problem was but it was NOT comfy. Back it went.
Best moment this week: Paying off our credit card and getting another 4 door car for the baby, although I know Taylor and I both miss his truck already. Painting the nursery!
Miss Anything? Not really anything this week. Maybe a few holiday cocktails?
Movement: He's rocking and rollin all over. Taylor has been able to feel him more frequently now too. Last night I told Taylor, turn on the light, he has to be kicking hard enough to see from the outside. Taylor put his head right down by my belly and started talking to the little nugget and sure enough, BAM! he kicked and Taylor saw it (I couldn't see because it was on the lower edge of my belly and the rest of it was in the way) but Taylor said It was the coolest thing he has ever seen!
this is right before she got her face kicked.

AND the other day Cora came up and sat by me and was resting her head on my belly (she's been doing this lately, she knows he's in there I think) and he kicked her right in the cheek and she looked at my belly and up at me and back at my belly and then huffed at him and put her head on the couch instead, like jeeze dude I was napping there! HA!
Food cravings: comfort food and apples still. Tomato Shrimp Bisque from O'neills.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, still doin great with the sickness thing.
Gender: Boy!
Symptoms: Stuffy nose again, stretching belly (but no stretch marks yet thank god). Had my first Charlie horse! DEAR LORD those hurt sooo badly. My leg was still sore 3 days later.
Belly Button in or out? in but getting much much more shallow now.
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!! working on the nursery has been so much fun!
Looking forward to: Decorating the nursery (we are getting started) and finding his furniture and the holidays! My sister is home today for Thanksgiving! And our fence going in!

Nursery update!

Well we finally decided what color we wanted the walls to be....drum roll please.......
 NAVY BLUE!
I know, you are thinking "Ehh, that's gonna be too dark" But I don't think so. We have stark white trim and white ceiling and a big window in there. I think it will be really cool looking. Here is our inspirational picture that I found off pinterest that made me think navy in the first place. Literally just the color of the wall and the crib color that I want, nothing else will be the same. But just so you can see what I am envisioning.
I originally thought I wanted this light grey blue color with a dark crib but I just couldn't find the right shade and it looked kinda muted and boring to me. Maybe it was their light crib in the picture but still. I like the navy much better.

I am a little obsessed with the navy chevron rug, however, Taylor informed me the other day he doesn't like chevron. Which made my original plan for his fabrics change too.
This is what I was thinking at first.

But no bumper (because they are not safe people!!)
So I wasn't sure how to get the car fabric in the crib skirt. But my mom and I went and got enough car fabric for his blanket and his pillow for his chair and tried to find matching fabric options which was much harder than I thought it was going to be. These are some of the options we considered.

Different prints

Green check or denim.

I even looked at stripes.

But we chose the navy blue check print for his crib skirt trim on the bottom of the car fabric.

and the sage green corduroy for the backing on his blanket with Navy satin trim.

I also picked out a few fun fabrics for blankets.

The dinosaur will be backed with red minky and the puppy dogs backed with brown minky. I can't wait to make these! They are so soft!

I think we are going to paint this week and I will post before, during and after pictures as we go.

21 weeks...lots of pics.

This past week was CRAZY!!! We had all of our family come into town Thursday night and stay until Monday for my cousin Rachel's wedding. It was so much fun to have everyone together. I get high on family time. Nothing is better in my mind. The nugget must have loved it all too because he has really started kickin like crazy. It's at least once an hour that I feel him now and I just can't get enough. I honestly can't wait to feel him again even if it's been a few minutes ago. It just amazes me because I was seriously worried that I would never get to have that feeling and to know he is real and he is growing and getting strong and doing well just makes me so emotional. I'd be lying if I said I had not cried a few times just laying here feeling him move. But enough chatter. Pictures say 1000 words so on to the weekend pictures!!!

We had everyone over to our house for dinner on Friday night. There were twenty something people there and it was awesome.
Not sure if David was making this face on purpose but it's still funny. These are my cousins. Brianna, Staci and David.

That's about it for this week. It was such an epic weekend but man I was exhausted when everyone left.

Chalkboard time.

How far along? 21 weeks, baby is the size of a Pomegranate
Total weight gain: I've gained a few more pounds this week. total of -8 now. The wedding and all our company helped with that. My belly is getting big and I don't think it's all real baby this week, I think food baby is involved here.

Maternity clothes? Yep, ordered a few more things from Zulily this week.
Sleep: I am gonna cave and buy myself a maternity pillow so I can sleep more comfortably.
Best moment this week: My cousin's wedding and all our family in town.
Miss Anything? Spiking my cider at the wedding at the cider bar and all of my family now that they have all gone home :(
Movement: Oh yeah, He is super active this week. I don't have to lay around anymore to try and feel him, it just happens at all times during the day and it's so much fun to have the constant reassurance he is in there saying "Hey momma, I'm ok!"
Food cravings: Nothin special.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, still doin great with the sickness thing.
Gender: Boy!
Symptoms: Stuffy nose again, stretching belly (but no stretch marks yet thank god). Not much else though
Belly Button in or out? in but getting much much more shallow now.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!! I loved having everyone in town this week and celebrating Rachel and Marcus's wedding with them.
